Executive Assistant to the Bishop

Core Function: Serve as primary schedule and communications coordinator, ensuring the Bishop’s time and energy align with diocesan priorities and the Bishop's leadership of the Cathedral, while maintaining accessibility for pastoral care. 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage calendaring/scheduling and email inbox daily 

  • Exercise delegated authority to prioritize requests and protect the Bishop’s time for essential ministry 

  • Coordinate travel arrangements 

  • Collaborate with Cathedral administrator and key staff to ensure seamless operations 

  • Manage confirmation schedules, parish visits, and ceremonial calendar with attention to travel logistics, service times, etc. 

  • Build and maintain operational frameworks for annual rhythms, recurring obligations, and diocesan workflows 

  • Compose and send correspondence on behalf of the Bishop 

  • Prepare briefings on speaking engagements, visiting parishes, and churches seeking diocesan affiliation 

  • Collaborate with diocesan administrator and key staff to ensure seamless operations 

Required Characteristics:  

  • Comfort with complex logistics and planning 

  • Ability to enforce boundaries while maintaining approachability and accessibility 

  • Executive presence with interpersonal fluency 

  • Detail-oriented and organized 

Preferences

  • 10-15 hours per week 

  • Remote-capable with occasional presence in Amesbury, MA preferred 

  • Eastern/Central time zones 

  • Standing weekly meetings plus ongoing availability
