RECENT NEWS
ART AND MUSIC FESTIVAL
Dandelion Ministries teamed up with One Church to host an art and music festival outreach this past Saturday in Tappan, NY. Friends from all over the ADNE (Redeemer Franklin, All Saints Amesbury, and Reawakening worship leader Dave Edwards) joined in to make this an amazing event. One Church estimated that nearly one thousand people came through! The gospel was shared through collaborative art projects, original music, and a musical drama of the woman caught in adultery - “Beauty for the Brokenhearted”
Safeguarding Our Children, Safeguarding Our Community
The ADNE has designated September as Safeguarding Awareness Month, and the timing couldn't be more fitting. As Sunday school classes fill back up and youth programs kick off for a new year, it's the perfect moment to pause and recommit ourselves to the safety of every child and vulnerable person in our care.
Safeguarding isn't a box to check once a year. It's a posture of vigilance, humility, and love, that shapes how we welcome families, train volunteers, and structure our ministries. When we take safeguarding seriously, we're not just following policy; we're living out our call to protect the "little ones" Jesus spoke of in Matthew 18:6.
I'm not sure what your parish or congregation has planned to launch the new program year. At Church of the Apostles in Coventry, we're hosting a youth and family night of games and crafts to celebrate a successful summer of VBS and field trips — and to kick off Sunday school for the year. We'll also be honoring our volunteers and commissioning them for the year ahead. If your church is planning a similar event or volunteer recognition, we'd love to hear about it.
A Denomination-Wide Resource
The ACNA Safeguarding Team has launched a new monthly training series, Title IV Readiness Training, designed to walk leaders — especially safeguarding specialists, but truly anyone in ministry — through the full arc of how our province handles concerns of clergy misconduct. Each month pairs a live webinar with a short (10–25 minute) asynchronous learning module, so even the busiest volunteer can stay current.

Nov 11 — Investigations & Prima Facie Cases
Dec 9 — Presentment to Trial

Why This Matters Now
The start of the program year means new faces in the nursery, new teachers in the classroom, and renewed energy in our youth ministries. It's exactly the season when good habits such as the two-adult rules, visible drop-off/pick-up procedures, and clear reporting lines, need to be refreshed, not assumed.
Over the remainder of the year, the Anglican Diocese of New England (ADNE) will be updating our website to include a dedicated Safeguarding page, with valuable resources and tools to help ensure our children and vulnerable adults are cared for in a responsible and loving way. We're also finalizing training for our ADNE Report Receivers and Investigators, in partnership with the Anglican Diocese of Pittsburgh and the Great Lakes.
A Shared Responsibility
Safeguarding works best when it belongs to the whole congregation, not just a committee. If you have questions about our diocesan policies or your local church policies please do not hesitate to drop me a line.
