Reawakening Workshops

Attendees can choose two of the following workshops to attend on Friday afternoon.

Where 2 or Three are gathered in my name

Ms. Elena Williams & Ms. Leah Maina

Jesus said, “truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven”. (Matthew 18:19).There is power in the agreement of prayer. There is power ‘where two or three are gathered in [His] name’.(Matthew 18:20) This workshop is for anyone whose desire is to see a growing hunger for intercession in their local church; for those who need some practical suggestions on how to go about building an intercessory team; and for everyone to be encouraged in the power of prayer.

Restoring Art in the Heart of the Local Church

Mr. Ryan Maike

A highly relational approach to bringing artists back into the mission and life of the local church. Can churches be a haven of healing and discipleship for the artists of today? Can pastors and artists team up to reach the neighborhood with the Gospel message? Ryan Maike of the arts mission movement United Adoration brings us insights and conversation from UA's experience ministering to artists within our local churches.

Pastoral Evangelism: Caring Before Sharing

Rev. Dr. Jack Gabig

When Jesus sent out the disciples he gave them authority and instructions saying, "Whenever you enter a town... heal the sick in it and say to them, 'The Kingdom of God has come near.'" The disciples were being and proclaiming good news to believe in. They were demonstrating God's loving care before calling for commitment. This session will explore how we too might strive to be good news that is visible and tangible, demonstrating something to believe in, being and proclaiming the gospel.

The Rector, the Vestry, and the Church"

Rev. Canon Ross Kimball and Mr. Josh Vanada

If you’ve ever wondered how the leadership of the Church works, this workshop is for you. We will take our time together to offer an historical view of Anglican governance, as well as a functional understanding ofhow the clergy and elected lay leadership works together to bring the transforming love of Jesus Christ to New England and the world.

Discerning god’s Call in your life

Rev. Canon Susie Skillen

Have you ever thought of the path of your life as a “calling” from God? The word “vocation” comes from the Latin word vocare, to call. Do you consider your vocation as a call from God? How do we hear God’s call to us in the varied seasons of our lives? This workshop will look at the ways we might understand “calling” from God. We’ll explore not only how we may discern God’s call, but also the different experiences of listening, waiting, redirection, confirmation, healing and resting in our call.

Creation Groaning

Rev. Canon Tim Clayton

In his great chapter in Romans (chapter eight) on God’s love shown to us in Christ through the Cross and the hope given us in Jesus’ resurrection, St Paul made the amazing statement that Jesus’ resurrection leads to the same freedom and release for the whole of the creation, and that the creation has been groaning in wait for that freedom. It is a very comprehensive and beautiful hope! How do we understand this? Specifically, how did Jesus understand his relationship to his (other-than-human) creation, and how did that effect his life and work? In an age of ecological crisis, come get a better handle on how to share this aspect of Gospel hope, through the accomplished work of Jesus, with neighbors, friends, anyone.

Mission in and Out of Your Comfort Zone

Rev. Piper Loveless

God has created each one of us with a unique missional identity. Our personality, gifting, experiences, and relationships are not exactly like anyone else’s. And we have been given a treasure to give away freely, the Gospel. So, sounds easy right? But does it always feel easy? How does Jesus encourage us to listen to what makes us comfortable to make others comfortable? And how does he challenge us to step outside our comfort for the sake of others? This workshop will explore these questions through testimonies and discussion. We encourage disciples of all ages to come, but especially would love to have anyone with the perspective of following Jesus who is under 21.

Recreating Youth & Family

Rev. Canon Craig Vickerman

Reawakening a vision for creating resilient disciples who can lead the church.

Living a More Beautiful Story in the Neighborhood

Pastor & Coach Drew Thurman

Christians are often perceived as being unloving, bad-tempered, and at times even a hateful people. How do we possibly square this with the kind of witness that Jesus called us to embody and represent? How is it that the very people who claim to have experienced the amazing grace of God can have such a narrow application of it when dealing with others? Join us for this workshop as we wrestle through the frustrations and limitations with how Christians embody the story of God, and learn to live and tell a more beautiful one in our neighborhoods.

Growth in Season

Rev Micah Thompson

If you could do one thing in your Christian Life this year, what would it be?

During the past two years, this question has been changing our church. We’ve been building a program, "Growth in Season," around calling and gifting, and the result has been astounding. New, creative ministries have popped up. Lay people have been empowered. The culture of the church is shifting in beautiful ways. Our people are increasing in competence and confidence in their faith and calling. This workshop introduces the principles of the Growth in Season program, and walks through the year-long course that we’ve been developing. Participants will be invited to continue exploring this program after the conference with follow-up materials.
