Resources, Updates, and Good News from the ADNE
DISPATCHES is our monthly update that seeks to keep you advised of news, developments, and resources that support our shared priorities and initiatives across the diocese.
Our priorities are: Youth & Family Ministry, Leadership Development & Clergy Care, Global Mission, and the Reawakening of New England
from Bishop Drew
Dear friends,
As we begin a New Year, I am pleased to announce some key changes to the ADNE leadership team. I am grateful to the Lord for assembling a team with many gifts and yet the same distinctive servant heart. Their collective labors will support and strengthen us all in bringing the good news of the love, mercy and grace of Jesus Christ to an exhausted and divided world.
We are thrilled to announce that Bishop Bill Love and Bishop Trevor Walters have agreed to lend their considerable wisdom and experience to the diocese and our shared mission as Assisting Bishops. As well as their tenure as Bishops, they both have areas of particular expertise (for example in healing prayer and mediation respectively) and they are ready to serve as needed and determined by me. Their pastoral contribution will be a wonderful addition to the strong work already being led by Canon Susan Skillen and the ADNE pastoral team.
A native of Texas (born August 14, 1957), Bishop William Love was received into the Anglican
Church of North America (ACNA) and called to serve as Assisting Bishop of the Anglican
Diocese of the Living Word on April 3, 2021. Prior to coming into the ACNA, Bishop Bill
served as a priest in the Episcopal Church for 14 years before being elected and serving as the 9 th Bishop of Albany from 2007 – 2021. He is in his 34th year of ordained ministry.
Theologically conservative and orthodox in his faith, Bishop Bill is and has been a strong
defender of the authority of Holy Scripture as the living Word of God. Having been formed in
all three charisms, he has a strong appreciation for the Anglo Catholic, Evangelical and
Charismatic traditions. He has personally witnessed and firmly believes in the transforming
healing power of Jesus Christ and is very involved in the Christian healing prayer ministry.
Prior to entering ordained ministry, Bill served as an Air Intelligence Officer in the United States
Air Force for six years. It was during this time that he and his wife, Karen, met and got
married. Bill and Karen celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary this past year. The Loves live in the Adirondacks in upstate New York. They are richly blessed with two adult children (Chris and Catie) and their respective spouses (Lauren and Doug), and seven grandchildren.
Having been richly blessed to serve in ADLW (a non-geographic diocese) for the past four years, Bishop Bill is now looking forward to sticking a little closer to home as he gratefully accepts Bishop Drew’s invitation to serve our Lord and His Church as an Assisting Bishop in ADNE. Bishop Bill greatly values his friendship with Bishop Drew and wants to be of help in whatever ways that he can in assisting Bishop Drew and the clergy and people of ADNE in their sense of call and commitment to the “Reawakening of New England” through sharing the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. He and Karen are very excited about this new chapter in their life and ministry and look forward to meeting and serving with all the clergy and people of ADNE.
“It would be a privilege to serve your Diocesan and the Diocesan family as an Assisting Bishop. I would welcome the opportunity to come alongside Clergy and parishes in transition, the subject of my last book. I would be willing to serve in the field of burnout. I am currently serving as Doctoral Thesis advisor for Trinity University, in the field of clergy burnout. My Assessment inventory has been used around ACNA to help identify clergy in the various phases of burnout. My book on burnout offers a therapeutic approach to clergy burnout. Lastly I have served the Province as the Senior mediator for church conflicts, since its inception. I enjoyed offering a seminar for your own Diocesan leaders, two years ago.”
Sean and Kate Norris will be continuing to lead the Reawakening efforts, and adding to that the sacred responsibility of caring for children and young people. This includes leading children and youth retreats, equipping parents, and helping them to know the inexhaustible love, grace, and mercy of Jesus Christ. They also will continue to serve on the Bishop’s senior leadership team.
After faithfully serving the Diocese for the past six years, Canon Ross has decided to retire from his role as Canon to the Ordinary, effective December 31, 2024. It’s difficult to adequately express the impact that Canon Ross has made on ADNE, and it seems impossible to understate our gratitude. There will be time for us to do so in the coming months and throughout the year as a family.
Josh Vanada, who has been serving the Diocese in a strategic advisory capacity will be stepping into the role of Chief Operating Officer. Similar to Canon to the Ordinary, Josh will continue serving on the senior leadership team, as the one responsible for putting the Diocesan vision into action.
In His great love, + Drew
A conference for all who seek to know the transforming love and power of Jesus in their lives and relationships
Dear friends,
I wanted to take the opportunity to remind you of the Isaiah Forty: Becoming Whole Conference that is being led by Bishop Alex Cameron and his wife Tamara at All Saints Cathedral, specifically for the ADNE (beginning on the evening of March 27 through Saturday March 29th ending 4.30pm). This is a remarkable opportunity for us as a diocese. A large number of the experienced Isaiah 40 prayer ministry team will be joining Bishop Alex and Tamara for the conference to serve us and pray for us. The ministry of healing and wholeness is at the heart of making disciples and this conference will be taking a deep dive into how Jesus changes everything - not just our relationship with sin, but above all, our relationship with Him, our understanding of ourselves and our relationships with other people.
This conference has been prayerfully created in order for you and members of your congregations to meet with the Lord and know His healing and empowering presence in your life. This time together will be a confidential and Spirit-covered opportunity where you as a leader can quietly receive. Ministry is a privilege but it is also challenging. Jesus knows this and He knows all of us all so intimately. At the same time, as we are blessed, healed and ministered to as leaders, we become a greater blessing and means of His healing to others back in the Parish.
I wholeheartedly recommend this conference to you and members of your congregation.
In His great love,
+ Drew

Since October of last year, our Reawakening Team has been at work celebrating an amazing 2024 conference, considering feedback from conference attendees, and assessing our vision for the future all to improve future conferences.
This Year’s Conference
We are so, so excited to invite our entire diocese (and those we network with beyond the ADNE) to this year’s Reawakening Conference on October 17-18, 2025!
Venue Change
While Hope Church in Newburyport was a wonderful host for us last fall, we found ourselves at capacity. This year, we are pleased to hold the Reawakening Conference at Grace Chapel in Lexington, MA.
This new venue more than doubles our capacity and will help us provide a great conference experience to all who attend.
You can be praying for the Reawakening Team as they continue their work throughout the year. We’ll have updates coming up in the coming months and open eearly registration in late spring/early summer.
Check out the 2024 Highlight Video below to see what the ADNE’s Reawakening Conference is all about!

Rector’s Huddle – Wednesday, January 29
Reminder that parish rectors will gather on zoom next Wednesday, January 29 for a Q1 rector’s huddle.
Warden & Vestry Day – Saturday, March 8
The ADNE Vestry Day is an opportunity for us to provide some clarity on exactly what a Vestry’s role is, how the Rector leads the church, and how the Vestry can support the Rector in those endeavors. It’s an opportunity for Vestry Members to meet one another, help each other with challenges they may be facing, and unify the family of God here in the ADNE!
Missional Plan Coaching Calls & June Mission Planning Summit
Rectors should expect to hear from their Missional Coaches this month. Please prioritize this connection. Our annual Missional Plan Summit will be on a Tuesday-Wednesday this year June 10-11. This annual summit is for rectors of ADNE churches along with those core clergy or lay leaders involved in each church's 12-month missional plan. These have been such a powerful time of Spirit-led vision, collaboration, mutual support, and prayer!
Clergy Care Feedback
Look for a simple 4-question anonymous clergy care questionnaire to come out in February, as we seek to know what was helpful, and what could help the clergy pastoral care team serve you better.
Bishop Drew, together with Canon Leah Turner and Rev. Sean Norris made a return visit to Uganda this month to attend and participate in Audrey Patra's and Leon’s Okuhingira Ceremony - a traditional Ugandan bethrothal ceremony.
Audrey Patra (below left in the center of the group) heads up Love Unveiled ministries in Uganda - working with some of the poorest communities within and outside of Kampala. For the past three years, Audrey has also been on the ADNE staff team - working with the Rev. Canon Leah to prepare mission trips and since 2023 - vetting and overseeing water scarcity projects in Uganda and Kenya for the ADNE. Because of Audrey's excellent work on the ground, the ADNE will soon complete the third and largest water scarcity project in Kenya!
Over 500 guests with many Ugandan Bishops and retired Archbishops were in attendance, and Bishop Drew was thankful to speak at the ceremony. Wedding gifts were prepared by the groom’s party for the parents of the bride and the bride’s family. The ADNE team lent a hand and have new ribboning skills to add to their resumes.
The short trip also gave the team the opportunity to deepen existing friendships with partner bishops and clergy in Uganda.
In February 2012, a small collection of worshippers was preparing for the launch of a new church in the Greater Bangor region of eastern/central Maine. That church would be known as Imago Dei Anglican Church. Now thirteen years later, it is receiving a new name…
Bishop Drew is chairing the ACNA Music Task Force. This month the task force convened in Charleston. The hope is to provide the province with a digital tool offering churches across the ACNA worship music resources through the lens of the Sunday lectionary week by week.
We hosted a one-day training in communication and listening skills that have greatly blessed us in our marriage and other relationships. We use them to do our pre-marriage counseling: we teach these skills to the couple and then facilitate their active listening on all the key topics. We introduce these skills in our “Better than Wine: Building and Rebuilding Intimacy” Marriage conference. Last weekend, we were hosted by our friends at Anglican Church of the Redeemer, Franklin, MA (thank you Rev. Dan and Lisa Sylvia!) We dove in with a pilot group of couples. It is our hope to bring this workshop and/or the entire marriage conference to you one day!
Early in 2024, Redeemer Franklin embarked on a year-long project to prepare for Advent, which became known as The Isaiah Project. The initiative was designed as a study of the book of Isaiah and included the development of artistic responses created by many of the artists and creators at Redeemer. From the beginning, the vision for the project was a collaborative effort that would produce music, visual arts, prose, and drama—all culminating in a mid-Advent celebration of the coming of Christmas.
Over 30 individuals contributed to the project, which developed throughout the spring and summer before blossoming into the final presentation in December. Musically, the project was spearheaded by Isaiah Sylvia, Music Director at Redeemer, along with the Redeemer band members and some guest collaborators. Together, they created a six-song EP, all self-written and composed.
The joy of Christmas.
St. Paul's Anglican Church (formerly in Waltham, and now located at 9 Westminster Avenue, Arlington, MA) celebrated Christmas in a trinity form: three congregations came together to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, December 22.
Operation Sleigh Ride was formed in late 2024 as an effort to encourage families of children impacted by Hurricane Helene. To facilitate providing toys for 800 children, drop sites were set up all over the Northeast.
Saint Nicholas House, which describes itself as a house of hospitality and prayer, joined the efforts by choosing to have a community gift drop box on the front porch of their Brookline, NH house.
Thank you for supporting the ministries and priorities of the Anglican Diocese of New England.
The Anglican Diocese in New England wants to be on mission together: every parishioner, every member of the clergy, and every church. As a family of churches reaching across the breadth of New England, God is calling us to serve in the reawakening of the Northeast.
We can do so much more in God when we work together.
As of January 22 2025, our online giving is now through the platform Aplos. The portal will look different, but is legitimate and secure.
