Floodgate Cross Mobilizes Prayer Among Ugandan Archdeaconry & in Andover, NH

The Floodgate Cross continued its pilgrimage across the northeast with its arrival in the ADNE Ugandan Archdeaconry on Sunday, May 12th. Venerable Michael Kafeero received the cross from Elena Williams, Director of Prayer and launched a week of prayer at St. Paul’s, Waltham. Ven. Michael writes, “During that week of prayer, something special happened; church members mobilized themselves every day to be at church between 6:00 pm and 11:00 pm and cried out to the Lord in prayer. The Lord spoke to the church to build an ‘Altar of Prayer’ and now our members are meeting every Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm-9:00 pm to intercede for the church and all people.”

St. Paul’s week of prayer culminated in the visitation of the Archbishop of the Anglican Church in Uganda to the ADNE’s Ugandan Archdeaconry. The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Kaziimba, was able to pray for Rev. Amos Kimera and the congregation of St Peter’s, Winchester, the next church on the pilgrimage route. Rev. Amos explained, “We kept St. Peter’s open throughout the week for individuals to come and pray at any time. I had the privilege of joining many of them in prayer.”

On Sunday, May 26th, Ven. Michael took the Cross to St. Luke’s, Waltham, where it was received by the Rev. Christine Nakyeyune, Rev. Mary Tusuubira, and the leaders of the church. There was a time of prayer for the whole congregation and once again the members of St. Luke’s were invited to spend time in prayer at the cross throughout the week.

Rev. Christine then drove the Cross north towards Andover, NH where she met with Rev. Bill Blomquist from Andover Community Church and handed the Cross to him at a gas station.

Rev. Bill writes, “We celebrated the Lord's revival and renewal with the Floodgate Cross in our midst on the night of Saturday June 1st with a combination of music, ministry, and creative ways of prayer. We took liberty to customize the liturgy to our own people which included petition/response prayers (written by Rev. Cinnamon), free-form prayers as a unified body, prophetic song, and prayer-triads where we broke into groups of three or four and prayed into one of the ‘stations’. There was a real sense of the Lord's Presence and heart for spiritual renewal all 'round. We especially found favor when praying for the church that preceded us (Rev. Christine's) and the church the cross was headed towards (Incarnation Anglican led by the Rev. Piper Loveless). The Floodgate Cross was a wonderful leverage point to bring us together and pray in unity with one another and for the diocese and world.”

Please join us as we pray that the Lord would open the floodgates of heaven and pour out His Holy Spirit in each of the churches where the Floodgate Cross arrives.
