Rev. Amos cuts a cake as new rector of St. Peter’s Belmont

On February 1st of this year, Bishop Andrew formally welcomed and installed Reverend Amos Kimera as Rector of the thriving ADNE church, St. Peter’s Belmont. Rev. Amos takes on the weighty mantle of Venerable Dr. Alex Kasirye-Musoke. Rev. Amos is eight years married to Florence and they have two young daughters, Makaila and Moriah. Bishop Andrew commented, “St. Peter’s is a faithful, vibrant and growing church. Under the skillful and faithful shepherding of Venerable Dr. Alex, St. Peter’s has grown and seeded two very successful ADNE plants (St. Luke’s Waltham and St. Paul’s Waltham). Reverend Amos and his wife Florence, with their beautiful daughters, are the answer to many prayers and a promise of the Lord’s enduring faithfulness to this loving church family. Amos is a man of deep faith, strong character and integrity. There is an anointing upon his life to bring renewal to New England. I am overjoyed that he and his wife have answered the Lord’s call to come and be part of the ADNE team.”

our prayer and desire is to see a mission-oriented church community that draws all people to encounter Jesus Christ.

Reverend Amos explained, “God’s dream for St. Peter's Anglican church is delivered from two scriptures: 1 Timothy 2:2 "And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others." And Proverbs 13:22 "A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just." Upon these scriptures, our prayer and desire is to see a mission-oriented church community that draws all people to encounter Jesus Christ.”

Reverend Amos is committed to strong biblical teaching. He has developed programs to equip his congregants with a sound Biblical foundation. Throughout the week, St. Peter’s offers Bible study fellowship on Wednesdays and Tuesdays. Every quarter they engage the community with an overarching theme to take them deeper in God’s word. Reverend Amos added, “We are also encouraging our congregants to pray about full-time ministry. By equipping the church family in their faith, they are better able to go out with the Good news of Jesus Christ.”

We intend to grow our congregations by at least 1000 people in the next ten years. It is estimated that there are close to 10,000 Ugandans living in Massachusetts.

Fellowship is also a key component in keeping St. Peter’s healthy and growing. As part of that commitment to strong fellowship, St. Peter’s holds a virtual lunch hour fellowship meeting every Friday. They have also established fellowship groups for children, young people, men, and women. This includes a Christian Women's Fellowship for all women, Mothers Union Fellowship for married women, and a Men's fellowship group. These groups organize camps, conferences, dinners, and seminars where they socialize, worship, pray and serve together. Members are reminded to share God’s love for one another and their neighbor and to be accountable to one another in the Christian journey.

We are equipping young people to share their faith. This has included giving them a chance to share and preach during Sunday services.

On this strong foundation of God’s Word, Spirit and mission, Reverend Amos has a big vision for growth, “We intend to grow our congregations by at least 1000 people in the next ten years. It is estimated that there are close to 10,000 Ugandans living in Massachusetts. As our churches grow, church members can be equipped and sent out. We intend to develop vibrant services with fresh expressions of worship and outreach. We want to reach out to the younger generation. We started a teen's service that serves our young people who were born in the USA and do not speak the Luganda language. We are also equipping young people to share their faith. This has included giving them a chance to share and preach during Sunday services.”

Reverend Amos also has significant communications background and amidst all their plans, he is seeking to increase the virtual presence of the church so as to reach out to the wider community. This has been especially effective in this season of pandemic where virtual prayer services, hosted by St. Peter’s have reached over 100 participants.

Please pray for St. Peter’s as they seek to purchase a building that can serve the Lord’s bold vision for spiritual and numerical growth and outreach to the wider community.

Reverend Amos serves on the Bishop’s Advisory Council and is a member of the ADNE standing committee. Amos’ wife, Florence, has recently agreed to serve on the Bishop’s task group that is seeking to grow the prayer life of the Diocese. On the subject of St. Peter’s plans for the future, Reverend Amos added, “The biggest project we have embarked upon is to have a mission base. There is no way we can reach out with the strength and breadth the Lord desires if we don't have a home where we can run our programs and outreach. We are seeking a permanent church building for training and equipping people. We believe the Lord is calling us to establish a resource center where people can be equipped for mission and evangelism.”

Please pray for St. Peter’s as they seek to purchase a building that can serve the Lord’s bold vision for spiritual and numerical growth and outreach to the wider community.
