Floodgate Pilgrimage Sets Out Fostering Prayer for one another & the Reawakening of the Northeast

The Floodgate Cross began its pilgrimage on Saturday, April 27th with a prayer gathering at St. Timothy’s Church in Williston, Vermont, led by Rev. Micah Thompson. Rev Lyn Baker commented, “Mark Denison, a master woodworker has created a stunning cross made of wood from an old table. We marveled at the humble beginnings of this symbol of our faith. That old table is a beautiful reminder that God uses simple, ordinary people to do great and powerful things - like pray for the renewal of the northeast”

Elena Williams, ADNE’s Director of Prayer, commented, “I was thrilled to finally see the Floodgate Cross and to join Micah, Jen and the team in praying for revival in the northeast, for a move of the Holy Spirit in our churches and for peace in our troubled world. It is always humbling to hear the cry from the heart of God’s people amplifying what must surely be on God’s heart himself.”

The Cross was then driven to Amesbury, where Bishop Andrew took it to Holy Trinity, Auburn, the following day, as part of his episcopal visit. Leah Maina, who leads the intercessory team, writes, “The intercessors had been looking forward to receiving the Floodgate Cross and in preparation had begun three days of prayer and fasting prior to it’s arrival. We are continuing to pray as has become our habit – meeting every morning, Monday to Friday from 5am to 6am on zoom. We are pressing in for revival in our church and revival in the northeast.”

Rev. Eliud Mwangi said, “I feel so blessed to be in a diocese that has embraced prayer. Having the opportunity to pray for the next church on the pilgrimage is like making a rope that links us together, bringing unity and harmony to the church.”

Wrapped in yards of bubble wrap and packed into a large suitcase, the Floodgate Pilgrimage Cross then accompanied Bishop Andrew on his flight to Delaware, this past weekend, where he joined Cn. Paul Githinji and the congregation of St. Veronica’s. At the prayer meeting on Saturday evening, the Cross was assembled and members of the intercessory team and leaders from St. Veronica’s worshipped and interceded for revival in Delaware and the northeast. The Cross was then placed in the sanctuary on Sunday morning where the entire church prayed. At one point in the service, the Bishop encouraged those close to the Cross to lay a hand upon it and for others to place a hand on the shoulder of the person sat in front of them. The entire church family (including over forty children) were physically drawn together around the Cross, praying for New England and the larger reach of the diocese. “It was incredibly powerful.” commented Bishop Andrew, “St. Veronica’s is a very important part of our ADNE family and this venture in prayer has beautifully brought us together before the Cross of Jesus Christ. His bonds of love, His sacrifice, His mercy and His healing make us one.” Canon Paul prayed passionately for the diocese and for Ven. Michael Kafeero and the members of St. Paul’s, Waltham – the next link in this pilgrimage of prayer.

Please join us as we pray that the Lord would open the floodgates of heaven and pour out His Holy Spirit in each of the churches where the Floodgate Cross arrives.
